Beautiful single cell thunderstorm with rare 'rain foot' caused by strong low level winds pushing the rain ahead of the main core, this feature is a good visual indicator of a wet mircroburst or strong downdraught of wind and rain, indeed the radar showed red and white echoes at this time which is at the top of the scale. The storm looked fantastic as it loomed over this old church which my Dad and I found on the hills between Swatragh and Kilrea making for a very fine photogenic reward for this fun afternoon storm chase on July 26th 2013, read the report for more information. * All images are available for sale in the form of photo prints, canvas or digital files for licensing, if you are interested in a purchase simply drop me an email.
