August 21st 2012, having a great day under a hot sun and great light on the Glenshane Road parked on the hard shoulder looking E towards Antrim where a severe extremely well organised back-building multicell storm formed with thunder rumbling away in the distance as the storm moved from R to L and away from the camera. The anvil can be seen aloft and precip core to the left and a new explosive rock solid updraught tower at the rear which sported structure similar to a rotating updraught, indeed, mesocyclones and hence supercells were forecast for N. Ireland this day so this was likely supercellular for a time during it's long life cycle. Beautiful storm and one of the highlights of the year for me, read the report for more information. * All images are available for sale in the form of photo prints, canvas or digital files for licensing, if you are interested in a purchase simply drop me an email. |
