Another 'oldie' from June 20th 2005 taken from a large football pitch behind my old home in Maghera showing an intense NLC display. I recall standing within the dark pitch on my own in awe as these clouds seemed to glow with an eerie luminosity all of their own, I was shocked by just how bright they were at this hour in the middle of the night. I only had my old 5.2 MP Fujifilm Finepix E510 point and shoot digital camera for the job so the quality was very poor however I got my own record of the display anyway. Check out the length of these IIa and IIb bands (soft and hard edged) glowing pearly-white in the northern sky like an approaching spaceship.
