The famous Giant's Causeway on the Co. Antrim coast of N. Ireland captured under the surreal light of the full harvest moon very late in the night of September 20th 2013. These basalt volcanic rocks are 60 million years old and are well known all over the world. Visiting in daylight is one thing however being here at night under the magical and eerie shifting moonlight is quite another. I had to wait for a long time in heavy drizzle after navigating across these treacherous rocks in order to pick my location and get composed then wait for the clouds to break, when that happened the moon appeared and lit the entire landscape into a bright monochrome pastel alien world, you can also see stars aloft and moonlit shower clouds moving in from the ocean, it would cloud over soon after this for the rest of the night however this moment in time captured on camera made the trip worth it. * All images are available for sale in the form of photo prints, canvas or digital files for licensing, if you are interested in a purchase simply drop me an email. |
