May 23rd/24th 2011 at 01.15 located within a dark field in the Maghera countryside looking N to NW across the Sperrins towards the Antrim coast and W. Donegal where during the course of this shoot I observe three distant thunderstorm cells at the same time who where 40 miles distant over the Atlantic Ocean. I observed 11 flashes of lightning from various cells and caught several flashes on camera. The long cloud band was lit orange/red from below from distant lights however the storm cells where beyond this. The entire blue-purple colour among the stars was from a bright double lightning flash and to the lower left you can see the top of the storm's updraught with a purple colour which had been lit from within by the bolts. Wish I had been closer to the action this night however the view from this substantial distance with the stars above was brilliant. * All images are available for sale in the form of photo prints, canvas or digital files for licensing, if you are interested in a purchase simply drop me an email.
