LAURA'S SUN HALO |
|||
Complete 22 degree sun halo on Oct 3rd 2008 caught from my back garden during the afternoon when high level cirrostratus clouds drifted over the bright Sun. The classic halo was a complete 360 degree arc sporting bright colours. I used my hand to block the Sun and parted my fingers to create this diamond effect. ISO 100, 28mm lens at F/2.8 using a 4000/sec shutter. Since this high level cloud marked the leading edge of an approaching frontal system, which itself is the decaying remnants of subtropical Laura located over the Atlantic Ocean, I call this Laura's halo.
