Comet C/2011 L4 Pan-STARRS from Glenshane Pass on March 15th 2013 taken from an isolated mountain road looking west not long after sunset. This was the first time due to bad weather that I was able to get images of this famous comet and I can tell you I was thrilled beyond words to have finally got it on camera. This was taken with a 100-400mm F/5.6 lens at 400mm using a static tripod on a cold calm night. My fingers hurt due to touching the metal tripod and lens housing in such cold conditions however the view in the camer's viewfinder and through my small binoculars was amazing enough to take my mind of the cold, in fact, I was glowing with awe. The comet was easily visible to the naked eye complete with a golden tail which looked forked against the deep blue dusk sky, read the report for more information. * All images are available for sale in the form of photo prints, canvas or digital files for licensing, if you are interested in a purchase simply drop me an email.
