April 4th 2013 on Glenshane Pass parked on a narrow mountain road on a calm but freezing night. I had trouble even walking along this road to set-up my tripod as running water had froze and turned to black ice so I was walking in slow motion. I thought this was quite a cool scene with comet C/2011 L4 Pan-STARRS with M31 in the crisp starry sky with the ambient light illuminating the banks of snow on the sides of the road. This snow is the remains of drifts and ploughed snow from the historic blizzard which hit N. Ireland three weeks earlier. This is the first time I have ever got an image of a naked eye comet with snow in the foreground. I enjoyed the view very much however I was glad to get back into the car and get the heater blasting as my fingers were pure red and in pain from shooting in such harsh conditions, read the report for more information. * All images are available for sale in the form of photo prints, canvas or digital files for licensing, if you are interested in a purchase simply drop me an email.
