April 3rd/4th 2013 when my girlfriend and I had an unforgettable night observing and photographing the spectacular conjunction of comet C/2011 L4 Pan-STARRS with the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) over the famous volcanic rock formations at the Giant's Causeway from the Co. Antrim coast. This was taken with a 50mm F/1.8 lens, I set up my camera and my girlfriend used the cable release to take exposures while at the same time using a torch to illuminate the rocks, I ran across the dark shoreline using my head torch and stood on the famous Causeway rocks to get a self portrait, I have always wanted to do this, get a nice naked eye comet above me in the frame, they don't come along too often so this was the night when it all happened, needless to say I was delighted with the results, this was a combination of team work, dedication, pure passion and love for nature, thanks to Pan-STARRS for putting on a show, read the report for more information. * All images are available for sale in the form of photo prints, canvas or digital files for licensing, if you are interested in a purchase simply drop me an email. |
