CORONA |

|
||||
A shimmering green and red Corona at the zenith (overhead) during the April 6/7th 2000 geomagnetic storm captured by John C. Mc Connell from N. Ireland. The corona looked like a 'silent explosion' in the sky. This splendid aurora was visible from the early evening, faded then flared up again during the early hours of the morning when it put on an even better show which was missed by many who thought the earlier fading signaled the end of the display. Note: Auroras are unpredictable, they have a tendency to fade and flare and repeat this pattern at unexpected intervals so pay attention if you see one in the sky as the next 'flare up' could be the show of a lifetime! |
