Aurora17-17

The years 2000, 2003 and 2005 will be fresh in the minds for observers of the night sky - these years produced unforgettable aurora borealis displays caused by solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CME's) which caused breathtaking geomagnetic storms here on Earth. This incredible image was captured by John C. Mc Connell from N. Ireland on April 6/7th 2000. The constellations of Auriga and Gemini can be seen behind the green curtains. - The image speaks for itself! Note the green reflection of the aurora on the rooftop window to the left!
